Award-winning portrait, nature and wedding photographer Natalie Fobes, whose work has been featured in such magazines as National Geographic and the Smithsonian, has been chosen as the latest subject of the "Creative Inspiration" documentary series for the online education company Lynda.com.

The hour-long film features the Seattle-based photographer's work and is divided into 14 segments chronicling different aspects of her career and life.

Images captured by Seattle-based photographer Natalie Fobes from the Exxon Valdez oil spill were included as exhibits for plaintiff arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court. Fobes had also been a witness for plaintiffs in the original 1994 trial against Exxon in Anchorage.

Fobes was one of the initial photographers to reach the spill in 1989. Her work was published in National Geographic magazine in August 1989 and January 1990, and has since been published in major publications worldwide.

Natalie Fobes, a photographer based in West Seattle, was named a finalist for the Alicia Patterson Fellowship, making her the first former recipient to be nominated again. Twenty years ago, Fobes received a fellowship for her salmon project.

Her current project examines how China's one-child policy affects people in China and the United States by following a family through the process of adoption.

For the second year in a row, Natalie Fobes has received a Judges Choice award from the Professional Photographers of Washington. Other recent honors include two Accolade of Excellence Awards and two Exhibition Prints from Wedding and Portrait Professionals International.

In addition, the Seattle-based Fobes recently joined 50 other photographers from around the world to capture 'A Day in the Life of the American Woman.' EpiCom Media will publish the images in a book scheduled for release this fall.
